From Breaking Glass Pictures comes the newest female fight club style movie called 'Fight Valley'. Of course females fighting is of interest to my readers and I figured I must review this production. Fading into the endless stream of underground fight films 'Fight Valley does little to distinfuish itself from the herd except that it centers around female fighters.
The motivation for finding who killed her sister is a standard plot ploy. I feel that 'Fight Valley' never rises above the level of mediocre in any phase, acting directing, and overall presentation. The characters are just overly one dimensional, and I just never felt empathy, anger, nor sadness for any actions taken.
Where 'Fight Valley' is a decent watch is the actual action. The girls mix it up pretty well, but the thing is unlike the brutal, violent action in 'Raze' the action is more staged and not as vicious. Of course the film has many UFC trained fighters such as Meisha Tate, Holly Holm, and Cris Cyborg, but again the producers went for quick cuts and odd filming angles, which did not display the talents of the ladies to their full potential.
A stand out in 'Fight Valley' is Erin O'Brien, as Duke. She brought her acting chops and raised the film up. I do hope for 'Fight Valley 2' that she is able to match wits and performance skills with a higher quality of acting from the other performers.
Keeping this to a quick review, 'Fight Valley' rates a marginal rent for UFC and genre action fans, but for the casual fan I would have to say pass. Overall, 'Fight Valley' rates a rather bland 5.5 out of 10.
