A Haunting In Salem- Movie Review

A Haunting in Salem bills itself as a horror movie in the vein of Amityville Horror and The Shining. If those two films were this boring they would have faded into obscurity.

The story opens in a creepy old house with a mysterious old beginning with a former sheriff murdering his family and apparently throwing himself off the second floor head first to the pavement below. The house has been unoccupied for a half century, now the new sheriff and his young family moves in. They are introduced to the other odd folk in the town including the gardener who is proclaimed not to be the sharpest tool in the shed. Quite frankly this is a really boring film, peppered with random nonsensical images of what is supposed to be construed as horror which just ends up as ridiculous, including the woman from the Salem historical society who lets herself in the house puts on a stock pot of water and promptly dunks her head in it.

The acting is bad, and the daughter is in full make-up while she is sleeping and throwing up! This movie offers no real scares only a few jump and cringe scenes, but nothing more that you would see in your own garden at night.

I have to give this film a pass and rate it 4 out of 10.
